The words on the drawing.
Most of the vocabulary around floorplans was set by the people who draw them, and it is rarely explained to the people who have to lease, market or brief from them. These are short definitions, written for the second group.
Title block
The bordered panel on a drawing that names the sheet and states its scale.
Vector and raster floorplans
Whether a PDF holds drawn lines or a picture of them, and why the difference decides what can be measured.
Floor plate
The whole floor of a building taken as one horizontal surface, and the unit most leasing decisions are made in.
Core, partition and exterior walls
Three roles a wall can play, and the reason a tenant cares which is which.
Draft geometry
Geometry accurate enough to see and decide with, set against construction-grade BIM.
Fitted vector plan
A clean 2D plan aligned to the model that came out of it, so both agree.
