Draft geometry
A 3D model built to be looked at and reasoned about, rather than to be built from. It carries the shape of a space, the position of its structure and the dimensions the source drawing stated, and it carries nothing that the drawing did not say.
The contrast is with construction-grade BIM, which is a different kind of object. A BIM model is a coordinated database of building elements: every component typed, specified, clash-checked against the services, and answerable to the drawing set it is issued with. It exists to be built from, and the effort inside it is proportional to that responsibility.
What draft geometry is for
Most conversations about a building happen long before anyone builds anything. Someone is deciding whether to inspect a floor, whether an organisation fits, how a scheme feels at eye level, whether to shortlist a space at all. Those conversations need a space that can be seen and walked, and they do not need a component schedule.
Using a documentation model for that work is expensive, and using draft geometry for documentation is dangerous. The two failure modes are not symmetrical, so the label carries more weight than it looks like it does.
Where StudiO sits
StudiO produces draft geometry, and says so on every page that describes the output. It is right for visualisation, marketing, early massing and the decisions that happen before commitment. It is not construction-grade BIM, not a measured survey, and not something to build from.
What makes the draft usable is that it shows its working. Wall thickness is resolved per segment with its exterior, core or partition role, and columns arrive marked as probable or asserted according to the evidence that detected them. A reviewer can find the places where the drawing was ambiguous and something had to be decided, which is the difference between a draft and a guess.
