Not your model of record. Draft geometry, for the conversation before documentation.

StudiO reads a plan and returns draft geometry: walls measured per segment, typed exterior, core or partition, with columns detected on the drawing’s grid. It will not document a building. Very little of what an early conversation needs is documentation.

The problem

Explaining the scheme costs the same hours as designing it.

  • 01

    Clients read rooms

You present a plan and then spend the meeting translating it out loud, while the person who has to sign nods at a drawing they are not reading.

  • 02

    Communication competes with the design

The massing model built to explain the scheme comes out of the same week as the scheme. Whichever wins, something you cared about lost.

What changes

The drawing you already made becomes the thing you present.

Your documentation stays exactly where it is. This runs beside it, on the plan as issued.

How it goes now

  1. The scheme exists as a plan.
  2. Someone spends a day building a massing model to explain it.
  3. You present, and the feedback moves the scheme.
  4. The model is now wrong, and nobody has a day.
  5. The next conversation happens over the plan again.

How it goes with StudiO

  1. The scheme exists as a plan: a vector PDF, or an image of the sheet.
  2. Upload it. Draft geometry comes back with walls typed and columns found.
  3. You walk the client through it in a browser tab.
  4. The scheme moves; you upload the new revision.
  5. The model of record never left your office.
Where the line is

What it is for, and where it stops.

StudiO extracts draft geometry for visualisation, marketing, early massing and the decisions that happen before documentation starts. It reads scale and revision off the title block, measures wall thickness per segment, resolves exterior, core and partition roles, and detects columns against the drawing’s vector grid. Each of those arrives with the evidence that found it, so you can check the extraction rather than trust it.

It is not construction-grade BIM. It is not a measured survey, it does not replace your model of record, and nothing should be built from it. A tool that is clear about its ceiling is one you can hand to a client without supervising the meeting.

A bare extracted shell in 3D: envelope, core and glazing standing up, with no fit-out or detail.
Draft geometry: enough to stand in and argue about. Too coarse to build from, and labelled that way everywhere it appears.
