Fitted vector plan

A two-dimensional plan drawn as clean geometry rather than as an image, produced from the same extraction as the 3D model and aligned to it. Fitted means the two share one set of coordinates, so a wall in the drawing and the same wall in the model are the same wall.

The word doing the work is fitted. A plan displayed beside a model is a layout choice; a plan fitted to a model is a claim about geometry. If the two came from different processes, they drift, and the drift shows up as the moment in a meeting when someone points at a corridor on the plan and cannot find it on the screen.

Why both documents exist

A 3D view is legible to anyone and hard to point at. It has no fixed orientation, so two people looking at it are rarely looking at the same thing. A plan has one orientation, one scale and an edge to measure against, which is why it has survived every attempt to replace it.

Keeping both means nobody has to learn the other person’s document. The people who read plans get the plan. The people who do not get the room.

What the plan carries

Because it is vector, the plan holds structure rather than pixels: the exterior envelope, the core, the partitions, the detected columns and a scale bar. Wall segments keep the roles the extraction gave them, so the drawing is readable as a typed plan rather than as an outline.

How StudiO produces it

The fitted plan comes out of the same reading of your sheet as the model. Scale is taken from the title block on a vector PDF, or stated as an estimate on a raster one, and it applies to both outputs equally. In the viewer the plan sits beside the model it produced, which is what makes the pair inspectable.
